Swedish massage is one of the most common types of massages. It manipulates the soft tissues for relaxation and holistic therapeutic purposes. It uses delicate, long, massaging strokes on the top layers of the body's muscles. It is relaxing and calming. It uses movements and actions like stroking, percussion, kneading, vibration, tapping, cupping and rolling.
Swedish massage releases tension by applying pressure to meridian points along the body. It can also help improve your posture, as muscles are no longer forced to overcompensate by building up stress and tension. Most other massage types are much firmer than a Swedish massage.
The massage will finish with a relaxing head massage, sometimes called a scalp or Indian head massage.
Massage oil is used to allow the therapist's hands to slide on the surface of the skin.
